Waynesville - Carrie Belle Buchanan Adams, 92, of Haywood County, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was born in Jackson County on March 30, 1915, to Roy and Luna Cowan Buchanan, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and canning. Her family expressed that she was a wonderful wife and mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Muriel Moore, and brother, Ray Conrad Buchanan.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jesse Walter Adams; three daughters, Frances and her husband, David Bishop, of Greenville, S.C., Shirley and her husband, Ron Kittle, of Flemington, W.Va., and Judy Karsten, of Greenville, S.C.; three brothers, Paul Buchanan, of Athens, Tenn., Glenn Buchanan, of Hoquian, Wash., and Dempsey Buchanan, of Sylva; two sisters, Rachel Bishop, of Waynesville, and Marcella Cable, of Waynesville; eight grandchildren and 11 great-greatgrandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations, with the Rev. Eddie Deitz officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Sylva. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
