Martha Jane was the eldest child of Joseph Monroe Young and Eleanor McDonald-Wingate. She had two older half brothers Elias and Henry J. Wingate. Her younger siblings were Avis, John Allen, Joseph Marion and Levi Walter Young.
Martha Jane and Daniel Leewright were married 10 Oct 1872 in Warrick County, Indiana. Of this union two sons were born, Lafayette and William Henry. After Daniel's death, Martha Jane married James William Campbell in 1882 in Indiana. They added Harvey, John Andrew, Joseph Elihu, Nellie and Marthy Emma to their family.
Sometime before 1884, they moved with several other family members to Yell County Arkansas. They were living in Mountain, Arkansas, with three sons and two daughters. In 1910 she, James and two of their children and a daughter-in-law were living in Chickalah, Arkansas, with her son William Leewright and his family. By 1920 Martha Jane,a widow, was living in Magazine with her daughter Nellie, who was also widowed. Then in 1930 she had moved to Holdenville, Oklahoma, and was living with her son William H. and his daughter.
Martha Jane died at the age of 78 years and is buried in the Holdenville Cemetery, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
