In Memoriam.

John L. Davis was born in Chester, S.C., June 9, 1850, and came to Chambers County, Alabama, when he was eight years of age, and spent his life here, passing away on the 22nd day of August 1912. His body was laid to rest in the Rock Springs Cemetery, after a funeral service conducted by Dr. W. C. Bledsoe, assisted by Rev. W. T. Hollingsworth. On Dec. 3, 1868, he was married to Miss Sarah Bartlette, who survives him. Also five children still live; A. E. Davis, Verbena, Ala.; W. T. Davis, La Junta, Col., J. A. Davis, LaFayette, Ala.; Mrs. Addie Moore, LaFayette, Ala.; Mrs. Ida Messer, LaFayette, Ala. Mr. Davis was a man of many fine qualities; a devoted husband and father, a kind neighbor, a true friend. He was distinguished for his industry, and as a skilled workman; he delighted to render faithful service in all the activities of his life; he was generous in his impulses, had no enemies, but many friends who grieve because of his death. May God comfort the widow and the children in this time of bereavement.
