Actor. Born Jesse Marc Weidenfeld in Buffalo, New York, he is best remembered for portraying the role of Harvey the "Maytag repairman" on television commercials from 1967 to 1988. He began his career in the 1930s, traveling in vaudeville before landing a role on Broadway in 1942. In 1947, he made his debut in films appearing in "Kiss of Death". His other movie credits included "The Bad Seed" (1956), "Designing Women" (1957), and "Marjorie Morningstar" (1958). White had his most success in television during the 1950s and 60s, appearing on "Four Star Playhouse," "Twilight Zone," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "The Munsters," "The Addams Family," "That Girl," and "I Dream of Jeannie." His last onscreen role was in an episode of "Seinfeld" in 1996.
