The majority of his career was devoted to the Charleston Naval Shipyard, where he retired as a nuclear engineering technician. He then managed Grimsley and Grimsley Inc. for ten years. He was known throughout the Charleston area for his skills in tool repair long after his retirement. He was a commanding presence that will be missed by family, friends, church members and his community. He especially enjoyed working with youth. He has been a major influence in the Boy Scouts and with youth in the North Charleston area
