14 Jul 2004: Edith E. Ness, 92, formerly of York Township, died Sunday morning, July 11, 2004, at the Brethren Home at Cross Keys. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Ness, who died December 10, 1995. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main Street, Dallastown, with Pastor Linda K. Gerber officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ness was born October 9, 1911 in York Township. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy (Markey) Hamberger. Mrs. Ness was a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker, and was an excellent seamstress and loved gardening and flower arranging. She was a former member of the Second Church of the Brethren in York. Mrs. Ness is survived by one daughter, Donna L. Freeland and her husband Stephen C. of Harrisburg; one grandson, Craig Freeland and his wife Cynthia of Harrisburg; and two granddaughters, Corrine and Cierra Freeland, also of Harrisburg; three brothers, David Hamberger of Spry, James Hamberger of Dallastown, Arthur Hamberger of York; and three sisters, Helen Keener of Spry, Arlene Hartman of York and Mary Rial of Red Lion.
