YORK Charles E. Ness, 84, of York Township, died at 6:30 p.m.

The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ness was born Sept. 11, 1911, in York. He was the son of the late Charles H. and Lizzie (Myers) Ness.

He retired in 1974 from York Corrugating Co. in West York after 38 years of service. After retirement, he worked for eight years at Weis Market in Queensgate Shopping Center. He was a member of Second Church of the Brethren of York, where he was choir member and director, and a life member of Rock Oak Hunting Camp.

Mr. Ness also is survived by a daughter, Donna L. Freeland of Harrisburg; two step-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Ness of Seven Valleys; and two sisters, Katie Bucher of New Oxford and Leslie Bailey of York Township.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Joe A. Detrick.
