Married to Anna Marie Walter in the near Odessa of the Volga area of Russia. The first 5 of their 11 children were born near Franzosen, Russia. They arrived in the United States in 1905 at New York City. They lived variously in Colorado, Kansas and South Dakota before settling in Worland, WY in 1922.

Northern Wyoming Daily News, May 1945:

“Jacob Lungren, 83, died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Eckhardt, Worland.

Jacob Lungren was born at Colony Franzosia in Russia on Feb. 18, 1862. Here he attended school and was confirmed at the Lutheran church on March 23, 1877. On Nov. 18, 1892 he was married to Anna Marie Walter by Reverend Starkel at the Lutheran church at Kutter Boboa (sic). In the spring of 1905, Jacob Lungren with his wife and five children emigrated to America and settled at Sugar City, Colo. In the following years the family moved to Garden City, Kan., then to Monte Vista, Colo., and Lamar, Colo., to Scottsbluff, Neb., to Sheridan, Wyo., and in 1917 to Fruitdale, S. D. Here his wife, Anna Marie, died, on May 18, 1919, leaving him with eleven children. In March, 1923 the family moved to Worland where they have made their home ever since.

Mr. Lungren lived with his children until 1936. From then on he stayed with his daughter, Mrs. Henry Eckhardt. He died May 5, 1945, on the anniversary of the day when he left the old country 40 years ago. He had reached the age of 83 years, two months and 17 days.

Surviving him are eight sons: Adam, Jake, John, Carl and Adolph, all of Worland; George of Sacramento, Cal., Henry of Vale, S. D. and Frederick, of Denver, Colo.; three daughters: Elizabeth, Mrs. John Winterholler, and Mrs. Henry Eckhardt, both of Worland; and Mrs. Carl Eckert of San Francisco, Cal. He also leaves 38 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, all boys, and the brother, John Lungren at Chicago.

Funeral services will be held at the Zion Lutheran church of Worland on Wednesday, May 9 at 2 p.m. with Dr. J. Berkenkamp, officiating. The Lutheran choir and make chorus will provide the music. Interment will be made at Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; John Lungren, F.1/c, Leo Lungren, Lloyd Lungren, Victor Lungren, Harold Winterholler, and as substitute for Pvt. Ruben Lungren, Pvt. Carl Berkenkamp. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Lass, Ben Kister, Philip Hartman, Peter Scheuerman, David Jacoby, and John Bott.”
