Ray grew up attending Willow Springs Freewill Baptist Church, a Church his Grandma helped start in 1924 he attended there until he was called into the ministry.
Ray was drafted into the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII Ray married Dorothy Fry in 1949.
He founded ozark music and coin.
Ray started music in the park downtown Cabool. He enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, coin collecting and spending time with his friends and family. He pastored Cabool First Freewill Baptist Church, the No 1 Freewill Baptist Church and Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. He preached there until ill health forced him to retire. He was preceded in death by his Parents 1 brother Charles and 1 nephew Greg Lawson.
