Bill is survived by his wife, Delsie Macy (Hobbs)Davidson of Bartow, Florida, one daughter, Deborah Daun Bolloms of Houston, Texas, one step-daughter, Patricia Calandros, and one step-son, James Murphy, both of Bartow, Florida, one brother, Edsel Quentin Davidson of DeLand, Florida, and five sisters, Edna Mae Everingham of Bartow, Florida, Mary Rose Tralle of Raytown, Missouri, Alice Jo Calhoun of Fall City, Washington, Shelba Jean Gaines of Tucson, Arizona, Carol Sue Koegel of Anacortes, Washington, four step-grandchildren, and six step-great grandchildren.
Bill was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Marine Corps as a para-marine, and fought in the south pacific during 1942-1945. He was a retired mining engineer having worked for Eastern Gas & Fuel Associates at their Kopperston Coal Division in Wyoming County, and Island Creek Coal Company in Logan County, West Virginia. After his retirement from the mines, he moved to Bartow, Florida and was then employed by Florida Department of Transportation as a Surveying engineer. He retired from that agency in 1982.
A graveside service was conducted at 11:00 AM, December 15, 1998 by The Reverend Alexis Young, Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church. Bill was afforded full military honors by the American Legion's Honor Guard. A twenty-one gun salute was rendered, followed by the playing of "Taps," and the presentation of the American Flag, which had draped his casket, to his widow, Mrs. Delsie Davidson. Bill was laid to rest in Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, Florida. Arrangements were by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home.
