A native of Bolivar County, Mr. Alford had lived in the Jackson area for the past 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Byram Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janie Allen Alford; sons, John Edward Alford of Pearl and Thomas Allen Alford of Byram; daughters, Mrs. Carrie Jean Durphy of Flora and Mrs. Peggy Backwell of Vicksburg; brother, Edgar Earl Alford of Bossier City, Louisiana.; sisters, Mrs. Vick (Dot) Kober of Flowood and Mrs. Henry (Emma) Gilmer of Memphis; and nine grandchildren.
