Funeral for retired 1st Sgt. Antonio Lopez Sr., 81, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Prakash Madineni, pastor, St. Ann's Catholic Church, Elgin, officiating.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel.

1st Sgt. Lopez died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in Lawton.

Burial with full military honors will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill.

He was born June 27, 1927, in McFaddin, Texas, to Luis and Adelida Hernandez Lopez. He married Trine Flores on Aug. 19, 1947, in Victoria, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Medals he was awarded include: Bronze Star Medal with V Device, second Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Battle Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Unit Citation with Palm, Good Conduct Medal Seventh Award, National Defense Service Meal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan). He retired after 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he was a civilian contractor at Fort Sill for 27 years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; nine children and their spouses: Luis and Gloria Lopez, Victoria, Texas; Antonio Jr. and Janice Lopez, Jacksonville, Fla.; Albert and Diane Lopez and Jo-Ann and Rollin Robinson, all of Lawton; Mary-Jo and Jeff Greene, Bellingham, Wash.; Richard Lopez, and Joe Lopez, both of Qatar; and Robert Lopez, and Paul Sr. and Tamara Lopez, all of Lawton; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers; Julian and Raymond, both of Victoria, Texas; and three sisters: Florence, Caroline and Lucy, all of Victoria, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a son, Florencio Lopez; his parents; and a sister, Lydia Rocha.
