George Washington Murphy, an old citizen residing near Virgil City, southwest of this place, died at his home last Sunday at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 9 days. Mr. Murphy is survived by two sons and two; daughters. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Henry Hubbard, were held last Monday afternoon and interment was in the Virgil Cemetery. The good people of Westboro were called upon last Saturday to mourn the loss of one of their oldest and most respected citizens. Mr. Asa Wright, father of T. J. Wright, banker at that place, died of cancer of the face after great suffering.
Mr. Wright lived many years at old Centre Point and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was 84 years and one month old. We extend the sympathizing hand of condolence to the bereaved family.

Murphy born, 78 years, 6 months, 9 days, July 4, 1846 in Indiana, died January 13, 1924 in Virgil, Vernon County, Missouri of mitral insuffenciency, burial in Virgil City Cemetery, informant B. O. Murphy, Wyoming. He married Ara M. Wright on July 26, 1887 in Hickory County, Missouri. From one of the later censuses, seven known children were born to him: Grant, Dulcie, Alma, Olive, Burl, William, and Cecil. Children with first wife: Eliza Castle Murphy Bartshe, James Clark Murphy, Bertie Virginia Murphy Breshears, Grant George Murphy. Children with second wife: Dulcie Geona Murphy King, Alma Ethel Murphy Mack, Olive Dorcas Murphy Kauffman, Burl Oscar Murphy, William McKinley Murphy, Cecil E. Murphy.
