Miss Becky Eis died at her home in Fulton Township Muscatine County, Iowa. Sunday, Sept. 1. She had been a sufferer of a complications of diseases and an incurable Complaint for years, and it was only her exceptional vitality which prolonged her life until this time. Miss Becky was a young lady of a kind and amiable disposition, during all her sufferings she greeted all her friends with a smile and she bore her dread disease with patience fortitude and courage. Her suffering of late had been so pitiable that the angel of death took on the guise of a messenger of mercy and caused her wearied heart to cease pulsation at 5:30 o'clock Sunday morning, Sept. 1.
Her funeral took place Tuesday, Sept. 3 from the Pleasant Prairie M. E. church followed by a long cortage to the Pleasant Prairie cemetery, where she was laid to rest. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Crull, of Sweetland, music and singing by the Pleasant Prairie choir. She was born in Montpelier township, Muscatine County, Iowa, Feb. 4, 1868, and died at her home in Fulton township Sunday Sept. 1, 1901.
She leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, Adam and George, and four sisters, Mrs. Caroline Pruss of Fort Dodge Iowa, Mrs. Lizzie Platt of Bear Grove Iowa, and Mrs. Mary Benert, of Pleasant Prairie Iowa, and Miss Katie who lived with her and tenderly cared for her during her painful illness. Besides her relatives she leaves a circle of friends who will greatly miss her in the community.
