A son on the late Samuel and Mary Humpert Messinger, he was a retired farmer. His wife, the former Emma Wantz, died in Febuary 1963.
Surviving are two children: Delvin S.J. Messinger, Littlestown and Mrs. Marian Shellenberger, York, with whom he had resided; three grandchildren and three step-children; Mrs. Beulah Crowl, Mrs. Vesta Helwig and Mrs. Eveyln Bollinger, all of Hanover.
He was a life-long member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church, Silver Run.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 in St. Mary's Church, Silver Run, with Rev. Roland R. Ries, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
