Obit in The Anthon Herald, 28 March 1973, page 1: Funeral services for Ira Brant, 87, who passed away at a Sioux City hospital on March 22, 1973, after a long illness, were held Saturday afternoon, March 24, at the United Methodist Church in Anthon. Rev. Donald Harbour officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Ira Brant, son of Winfield Scott and Josephine Kroul Brant, was born August 9, 1885, near Tiffin, Iowa. At the age of five he came with his parents to a farm near Anthon and lived in the Anthon community the remainder of his life.

On April 17, 1914, he was married to Jennie Diment at Sioux City. For many years they farmed and resided northeast of Anthon, and upon retirement, moved into Anthon in 1948. Mrs. Brant died in 1957. Ira had resided in a Correctionville nursing home for the past two years.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Bonnie) Hammer of Battle Creek, three sons, Vern and Gail "Sparky" of Anthon and Charles "Bill" of Sioux City, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one son. He was the last of six children, one of whom was his twin brother.
