Frank Snavely, 86, a life-long resident of Oceola and vicinity, died in Bucyrus City hospital Tuesday shortly before midnight of complications resulting from an illness of six weeks. he had been admitted in the hospital May 22.

Mr. Snavely was born in Holmes township on May 19, 1865 and was the son of John and Kathryn Diffenbacher Snavely. He was married Nov. 19, 1896 to Hattie Kester, who preceded him in death 11 years ago.

In his earlier years, Mr. Snavely farmed and operated the lime kilns which his father opened when he came to this county from Pennsylvania in 1844. These kilns were the first in this vicinity and were located northeast of Oceola. In addition to making the lime from the stone quarried in Tod township, he also delivered much of the product by horse drawn wagons throughout Crawford and adjacent counties. After discontinuing the manufacturing of lime in 1902, Mr. Snavely devoted all his time to general farming, retiring in 1936.
