Ossie E. Ferguson, a patient at the Bloomfield Good Samaritan Nursing Home the past year, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 1966, at the Lundberg Memorial hospital in Creighton. Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. in Christ Memorial Methodist church. Rev. T.J. Fraser, pastor, was the officiant. Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery, with arrangements by Scott Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Larry Erbst, Bill Johnson, John Ermels, Eugene Erbst, Jack Crosley and Bill Glover.
Ossie Ephron Ferguson, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Ferguson was born March 28, 1894 in Cass County, Nebraska and passed away April 26, 1966 at the Lundberg Memorial hospital in Creighton, Nebraska, at the age of 72 years and 28 days.
He was united in marriage to Avis Beulah Cooper on October 21, 1914, and to their union eight children were born. Preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; one brother, William and two daughters, Viola Ballard and Verna Swanson.
Surviving are his children, Lyle of Yankton, S.D., Melvin of Lincoln, Marcella Burlingame of Osmond, Vern of Lincoln, Delores Glover of Creighton, and Arletta Powers of Chillicothe, Mo.; four brothers, James, Cephas, Francis and Elmer, and a sister, Mrs. Eugene Johnson of Bloomfield, besides many other relatives and friends.
For many years the family farmed northwest of Bloomfield and then near Niobrara. He was employed for many years as a cook in Bloomfield. Since 1958 he had been in failing health, and spent the last years of his life in nursing homes.
