Mary Jane Kimmel Laird, 79, of 2320 Powell Ave., Millcreek Township, died Monday, Now 13, 1995, at Millcreek Community Hospital.

She was born in Claysburg, Blair County, Sept. 24, 1916, daughter of the late Chester and Clara Kimmel.

A resident of Erie most of her life, Mrs. Laird owned and ran Mary Jane's Beauty Shop on West Lake Road for more than 25 years, retiring in 1976.

For many years she was an active member of the Laurel Hill Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She was skilled at needlepoint and crewel embroidery and enjoyed working in her flower garden.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ross and Cloyd Kimmel.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Bernard J. Laird; two sisters, Mrs. Sherman (Winifred) of Claysburg and Dorothy Hoover of Duncansville, Blair County, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends called at John Mark Gannon Funeral Home, 2505 Powell Ave., 2-5 and 7-9 Wednesday. The funeral service was at the funeral home Thursday 10:30 with Elder Allen Konst officiating.

Interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
