A sad death.
William Lambert, a highly respected citizen of Forks Township, was found dead near the barn of the Hiple farm, Sunday at 5 o'clock p.m.

He started from the house at 1 o'clock p.m. with an auger in his hand. As he did not return, his wife sent the children to look for him, when he was found, as stated above, lying upon his face.

A postmortem examination was held Monday by Dr. Waddell. It was found upon analysis that the body was in a healthy condition and that death did not result from any natural cause.

A bottle was found under a rock, near the dead body, which was brought to Dushore and upon analysis proved to contain strychnine.

W. Bird, Justice of the Peace, empaneled a jury and held an inquest Monday. On account of the postmortem examination not being completed, the inquest was postponed until Tuesday. A full report of the inquest will be given in our next issue.

Mr. Lambert was 67 years of age. He settled on a tract of land in Forks Township about 45 years ago, cleared up a large farm, and was one of the most progressive farmers in Sullivan County. He was also extensively engaged in raising blooded stock.

Five years ago, his wife died, and three years later he was married to the widow Hiple who was living on a farm near Jordan's Mill. Mr. Lambert sold his property to one of his sons and lived with his wife on her farm, but on account of domestic trouble, left her and lived with his son, John Lambert. A few months ago, he returned and lived with his wife until this sad tragedy occurred. It is suspicioned that self-poisoning was the cause of his death.
