LOGAN, Utah - Modest "Jerrie" McBride Hobbs, 92, died June 18, 2009, at the Logan Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Hyrum, Utah, to Samuel and Eliza Jane Hall McBride. She married Melvin Hobbs on Oct. 3, 1939, in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on March 4, 1960. She lived in Logan, Utah, and was a member of the Logan 11th Ward. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Virginia Hobbs (Robert) Messerly of Green River, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Tony Dean Hobbs (Carol Sue) Messerly of Rock Springs, Wyo., Teresa Messerly (George) Lytle of Green River, Wyo., and Tom (Shannon) Messerly of Green River, Wyo.; and one great-granddaughter, Tara Dawn Messerly. She is also survived by one brother, Darrell (Ardyth) McBride of Hyrum, Utah; and two sisters, Ginger Bohi of Paradise, Utah, and Elva Hatch of Franklin, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, who passed away Nov. 3, 2003; a son, Melvin Dean Hobbs; two sisters, Violet Ricks and Rosella Maughan; and two brothers, Austin McBride and Leo McBride. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in the Logan 11th Ward Chapel, 195 South 110 East. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.
