Don was a friend of my in-laws & a member of their Church family. He was a very nice man.
Donald B. Fitzgibbon, age 80 of Clinton Township, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 in his home. He was born June 12, 1929 to Thomas and Alma (Charboneau) Fitzgibbon in Fitchburg, Mass.
On June 15, 1957 Donald married Helen Lymperis in Detroit. The couple settled in Detroit, moved to East Detroit, and have been at their present address for the past 37 years.
Mr. Fitzgibbon served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and Wayne State University with a Masters Degree.
For 20 years Donald was the principal at Kelly Junior High School in East Detroit, retiring in 1986.
He was a member and former president of the East Detroit Rotary.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; daughters, Ann (David) Farrell of Sterling Heights and Joan Uhnavy of Bloomfield Township; grandson, Donavan Uhnavy; brother, William (Jewel) Fitzgibbon of Missouri; and nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by brothers, Robert and Thomas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., June 29, 2009 at Grace Episcopal Church, (corner of South Main and Church Street), Mount Clemens with the Reverend Anne Bump officiating.
Donald's cremated remains will be placed in the church columbarium immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson's Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are being made through Will & Schwarzkoff Funeral Home.
