Abraham Chenoweth was born on January 16, 1849, at Broadwell, Illinois, and departed from this earth at Maywood, Nebraska, June 25, 1930, aged 81 years, 5 months and 9 days.
He moved from his birthplace to Nuckolls county (sic) and homesteaded near Oak, Nebraska, in 1872. Later he moved to a farm near Nelson, where he resided until 1924, when he moved to Superior. In 1928 he moved to Maywood, Nebraska, and made his home with his daughter Fern. He was married in 1894 to Miss Grace Marlett who preceded him in death two years ago. To this union was born one daughter.
He was a member of a family of eight children, only one of which survives him. He leaves to mourn his departure one daughter, Mrs. Harry Bell and one foster daughter, Miss Bertha Dearing both of Maywood; one sister, Mrs. Mary K. Allen of Oak, Nebraska, and a host of friends and other relatives.
He was a kind and loving friend and neighbor, an indulgent father always having a cheerful word and kindly smile for everyone, and he was especially loved by little children. He was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Nelson cemetery. Funeral service was held at the home at Maywood Friday morning by Rev. R.F. Shacklock, after which the remains were taken to Nelson, where services were conducted at the Methodist church Sunday by Rev. W.B. Zimmerman.

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boudnless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bells,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark.
For tho' from out out bourne of time and place
The flood may bear me far.
I hope to see my Pilot face to face,
When I have crossed the bar.
