Moses was born prior to Tennessee becoming a state and it was also about the time that settlers who thought they were living in Washington County, Virginia learned they were actually living in Sullivan Co, North Carolina or sometimes referred to as the Territory South of the Ohio. Sullivan County, North Carolina had it's first official meeting in the Log home of Moses Looney's Uncle who was also named Moses Looney. Moses Looney's parents were Capt. John Looney and Elizabeth (Rentfro) Looney. Their death and burial places are unknown.
