William M. Brandenburg was born on September 30, 1864 in Pleasant Plains, Sangamon, Illinois to Frank and Johannah Brandenburg. When he was 24, on February 21, 1889, in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, he married Clara Emaline Tomlinson. Together they had 9 children, 3 of which died at a very young age. They eventually moved to Springfield, Illinois and lived out the rest of their lives there. He died on August 6, 1954 in Springfield, almost reaching the age of 90. He was buried on August 9, 1954 in Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
