Clara Emaline Tomlinson was born on January 22, 1868 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Joseph H. and Sarah Ann Moore Tomlinson. Her and her family moved to Menard County, Illinois when she was very young. At the age of 21, on February 21, 1889, in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, she married William M. Brandenburg. They had 9 kids together, 3 of which died at a very young age. They eventually moved to Springfield where they lived until their deaths. Clara died on August 30, 1945 in Springfield at the age of 77. She was buried on September 2, 1945 in Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
