Claudia McMakin Guerry, 92, of St. Stephen, SC, a retired secretary for Albany Felt, died Sunday morning in a local nursing home.
Her memorial service will be 5:30 PM Friday afternoon, February 9, 2018, in the St. Stephen Evangelical Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 PM until the hour of service on Friday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Dial-Murray Funeral Home, 300 W Main St., Moncks Corner, SC 29461, to assist with expenses.
Mrs. Guerry was born July 26, 1925, in St. Stephen, SC, a daughter of Joseph Wheeler McMakin and Alma Keller McMakin. She attended the St. Stephen Evangelical Church and enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, doing word search puzzles, vegetable gardening, and growing roses. But most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and her dogs. Mrs. Guerry was preceded in death by a son, Joe Guerry, and a daughter, Patricia Ann Guerry. She was the widow of W. Lewis Guerry.
Surviving are, two daughters, Dell G. Morris and her husband, Bo, of Bethera, and Brenda G. Law of St. Stephen; two sons, William L. Guerry, Jr., of St. Stephen, and J. Wayne Guerry and his wife, Barbara, of Chandler, AR; a sister, Janie M. Hood of St. Stephen; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
