LORENA PACK, 92, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, June 22, 2009 at Winfield Rest Haven.
Born on June 6, 1917 in Hewins, Kansas, she was the fourth child born to Clarence M. and Belle (Blankinship) Wilkinson. She was raised and received her education in Cedar Vale, Kansas.

Lorena was united in marriage to Merle A. Pack on August 10, 1932 in Howard, Kansas. She was a homemaker and her love for children was evident as she cared for children in her home for approximately 20 years. She felt our babies and children were high priority. Lorena was a charter member of the Cedar Vale Assembly of God Church.. The couple moved to Winfield in 1951 and transferred their membership to the First Assembly of God in Winfield.

She and Merle along with her brother, Foy and wife, Audrey, sang together. Lorena had served both churches as pianist and in more recent years, was a member of the Winfield Assembly Bell Choir. She taught Daily Vacation Bible School and Sunday School and also served as President of Women's Ministries. During her years as Women's Ministries Director, one of her greatest interests was Hillcrest Children's Home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was instrumental in helping a local family of 3 children find a home there and was privileged to visit the facility. The couple served as church custodians for a number of years and Lorena worked in the church nursery over a 40 year span. Most recently, she volunteered at the Snyder Clinic and served on the election board. Mr. Pack preceded her in death on September 27, 1990.

In addition to her love for family and music, Lorena originated family reunions on both sides of the family. She could be frequently found in the kitchen baking fresh cookies and home baked bread and canning quarts of green beans and pickles.

Lorena had been a resident at Winfield Rest Haven for the past 3 1/2 years.
