He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. This is where his love of aircraft began, especially for B-52s of which he was a crew member.
Richard married Claudette Cloutier on April 9, 1971, where they moved to Muskogee and began their lives together. This is where he began his career as a successful court reporter when he joined his brother, Ray Courtemanche in the court reporting firm of Allen Courtemanche Reporting Service.
After the untimely death of his brother, Ray in 1981, Richard started his own court reporting firm, Courtemanche Reporting Service until retiring in 2004. He was a longtime member of Christian Chapel, also serving on its board. His passion after retirement was woodworking projects, landscaping his yard, working outside, building waterfalls, and anything to do with being out in his yard.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. Anyone who knew Richard knew he had a great sense of humor and was a great storyteller. His warmth and smile was felt by his friends and anyone that ever met him. He will be dearly missed and our memories of him we will always cherish.
Richard was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Ray Courtemanche; and sister, Ann Hebert.
