On Saturday, June 20, 2009, David Cote, 54, succumbed to a hard-fought and extremely courageous battle with cancer.
Dave was born in Butte on Aug. 25, 1954, to Harp and Esther Cote. He was the third of eight children. He graduated from Butte Central High School in 1972 and attended Carroll College.
Dave lived a full life; he put his heart and soul into everything he did. Dave worked as a roofer, insurance agent, sapphire miner, salesman, warehouse manager and card room owner. He liked to fish and hunt with his dad, brothers and uncles. His favorite times were those spent with his beloved daughter Shauna. He had a great sense of humor, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh. He loved his family and his many friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his sister Michele, his wife Mary, Shauna's mother, and his stepson Greg Bentley.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Shauna; proud parents, Harp and Esther Cote; brothers, John (Paulette), Paul (Pam), Steve (Melissa), Frank (Linda) and Jim (Dawn); and his sister, Anne Cote (Rob) Opp. David also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, as well as a wealth of wonderful and treasured friends.
He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday in St. Ann's Church. Parish Vigil will be conducted at 7 p.m. Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Ann's Church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michele and David Cote Memorial Scholarship Fund, Butte Central, 9 S. Idaho Street, Butte or the charity of your choice.
