Son of Ovide Bosse and Julia Guy he was born and baptized in Saint Pascal parish. He married Marie Hortense Girard on January 12, 1874 in Ste-Hélène-de-Chester, Arthabaska, Québec, Canada. Together they had at least fifteen children; Marie Rebecca, Joseph Theodore, Henry Joseph, Georgiana Hersey, Marie Virginia Rosilda (aka Regina Cecilia), Joseph William, Frank Joseph, Mary, Alfred, Rose Genevieve, Clara, Frederick, Malinda, Amelia Mary and Lawrence Joseph.

Records show that he came to the Leland, Michigan area around 1885 and was a farmer by trade.
