KNOPF JANEY LAYTON KNOPF November 28, 1931July 1, 2009 On Wednesday July 1, Janey was at home in Salisbury, MD., when she was taken after a long and valiant fight against cancer. After her retirement as a Sales Consultant with Montgomery Ward, she also was employed as a Medical Receptionist with Dr. Howard Hines. Janey was a congregation member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury, MD. Janey was bitten by the golf bug late in life and frequently enjoyed outings with her friends, sons and grandson at several local courses. She was the wife of the late William C. Knopf, Sr. formerly of Washington D.C., the beloved mother of William C. Knopf Jr. and wife Cheryl of Federalsburg, MD., Bradley D. Knopf and wife Marsha of Annapolis, MD., Brian J. Knopf and wife Georgann of Georgetown, DE. and the late Richard Glenn Knopf formerly of Selbyville, DE. She was blessed with six grandchildren; William K. Knopf, Amanda A. Knopf, Scarlett D. Knopf, Julia E. Knopf, Janine M. Knopf and Bradley G. Knopf. She was the daughter of the late Maude P. and Louis H. Layton, Sr. formerly of Washington DC., and is survived by brother Louis H. Layton, Jr. of Riverdale, MD. and sister Anita L. Hipple of Laurel, MD. Louis and Maude had a total of seven children, creating a gloriously large and loving family, with numerous grand and great-grandchildren throughout the Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware areas. Janey also leaves behind her loving dog Maggie, who will also mourn her passing. A grave side service is planned for 11 a.m. on Tuesday July 7 at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722.
