At age 3 in 1880, she, her parents, her older brother, Henry, and younger sister, Lela, were living in Giles, Tennessee. Her father's occupation was a Laborer and her mother was keeping house.
On the 1900 census at 23, she, her parents, & her siblings: Lelia, James, Joseph, Fletcher, Jesse, Grover were living in Italy, Ellis, Texas. Her father was a farmer.
Two years later, on July 5, 1902 at 25, "Jennie" married Aaron Bur Sims and by the 1910 census, she, her husband and son, Cecil, were living on Archer City Road in Wichita County, Texas next door to her brother, Henry Tucker and his family. Both her husband and brother are listed as General Famers and renting their homes.
NOTE: This 1910 census has caused a great deal of confusion due to incorrect transcription of the document as well as mistakes made on the census document & not corrected properly. Originally, two families were transcribed as all one family under her brother's name (Henry Tucker) with him as head of the family. Due to the way the census taker wrote her husband Aaron Bur Sims' name in cursive as ABSims A B (and writing the letters almost on top of one another) it led the transcriber to name those household members with the Sims' surname with a surname of Ablims, Abkins or Abbines. This also gave incorrect relationships to other members of the family. For example, Sarah and Aaron Sim's son, Cecil, was listed as Sarah's brother Henry's son instead of theirs. Some of this incorrect information has now been corrected on the transcription of the census document on ancestry.com, but not all. Upon close examination of the original document, the error can easily be detected.
On Sept 12, 1918, Aaron signed a World War I Draft Registration Card indicating that he and his family were living in Venus, Johnson County, Texas and his occupation was a farmer.
According to the 1920 census, Jennie, Aaron and their two young children, Cecil and Obera, were living in Ellis County with their address listed as Mt Peak and Huff Road. Aaron's occupation is a General Farmer working on his own account.
Soon after however, in 1922, they returned back to Young County, Texas settling in Newcastle. A widow, L. Lindsey (who was probably her sister, Lela Pearl [Tucker]Lindsey) was living with them in their rented farm home on Neighborhood Road on the April 1930 Young County census. Jennie's husband's occupation is listed as Farm Laborer.
At age 53, "Jennie" lost her husband in June of 1930 due to a truck accident.
Ten years later, at 63, she is found living at 1111 First Street in Graham, Texas with her daughter, Obera and her grandchildren, (Obera's children) Clifford and Bettye Joyce on the 1940 Young County census.
On June 18, 1963, Sarah Jane "Jennie" (Tucker) Sims, aged 85, died in the General Graham Hospital of Young County, Texas and was laid to rest on June 20, 1963 in the Restland Cemetery of Olney, Texas. Arrangements were under direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
