Evelyn Alderman Hearn of Cotulla, entered into rest on Monday, December 25, 2006 at her home in Cotulla. She was born on May 19, 1928 in Pearsall, Texas to Ezra and Clora O'Brien Alderman. Evelyn grew up and attended elementary school in Artesia Wells. She drove the school bus from Artesia Wells to Cotulla while attending Cotulla High School. On Novembaer 27, 1946 she married Roy Lee Hearn. While raising her sons and being a housewife she was also a substitute teacher. Evelyn worked in the Atascosa County Clerks office for 4 years and for the Texas Welfare Department for 6 years. In 1971 she returned to Cotulla to care for her parents. She was an expert seamstress and began sewing for the community. Evelyn created exquisite wedding gowns and beautiful western shirts. She was an avid sportswoman who loved hunting on the family ranch with her dear friend Alta. She is survived by her sons James L. Hearn and wife Cathi of Artesia Wells and Joe Lee Hearn and wife Beth of Devine; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her dear friend and hunting buddy Alta Richardson of Victoria. Visitation was held Wednesday, December 27, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Peters Funeral Home in Cotulla. Graveside services were conducted Thursday, December 29, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cotulla West Cemetery. Granny was loved by many and will be missed by all. Arrangements under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Cotulla.
