Ernest Gabbard, 70, Gabbardtown Road, Berea, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at his residence following an illness. He was a life-long resident of Madison County, born Jan. 17, 1939, son of the late Hiram and Rosie Ingram Gabbard, retired Berea College Employee, and member of Dixie Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvadia Powell Gabbard; four children, Darrell Gabbard, Sherry (William) Dooley, Michael (Tonya Dillon) Gabbard, Kelly (David Smith) Gabbard, all of Berea; four sisters, Rachael Richmond, Eva Fryer, Lois Short, Elsie Knuckles, all of Berea; four grandchildren, Kailynn Dooley, Karlee Dooley, Tanner Smith, Trevor Dillon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Preston Gabbard and one sister, Goldie Johnson.
Funeral Service 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Reppert Funeral Home with Dr. Adam Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 to 9:00 PM Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Ingram, Robert Jones, Boyd Grant, Jason Chasteen, William Dooley, David Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bert Ingram, Kailynn Dooley, Karlee Dooley, Tanner Smith and Trevor Dillon.
