Lenore Louise Bass, age 96, passed away July 2 in Sun City, Ariz. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, July 8) at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg with Pastor Paul Jones of Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church and members of the Order of the Eastern Star Peoria Chapter 59 officiating. Interment will follow in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery.
Lenore was born June 4, 1913 in Chicago, Ill., to Louis Krummel and Jeannette Schwarz Krummel. She came to Wickenburg in 1941. She married William G. Bass on Aug. 2, 1941, and together they operated the La Siesta Motel for years.
Her husband Bill had grown up at the Grand Canyon, and as a young man worked as a tour guide from 1917 to 1926, and during that time had put together quite a photographic showcase of the Grand Canyon and the Arizona desert. He and Lenore entertained guests in the Cliff Room Auditorium at La Siesta Motel, and Lenore continued to do this in her home even after Bill passed away in 1981.
Lenore was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1941 and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Lenore is survived by her son William L. Bass of El Cajon and brother Herbert Krummel and a nephew Rodney Rasmussen of Virginia Beach, Va.
