World War II Navy veteran, prison guard

Lewis Hickman, 83, of Millville, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009, at home.

Born in South Dennis to the late Clayton and Cora Hickman, he moved to Millville 50 years ago from Dennisville. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed as a prison guard at Southern State Prison. He was a member of the American Legion Post 82 in Millville and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and doing yardwork.

Mr. Hickman is survived by his wife, Lillian; sons Charles Hickman and wife, Linda, and Jayson Hickman, both of Millville; daughter Lou Ann Phillips of Millville; three grandchildren, Andrea, Nicole and Jamie; and his nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Hickman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Thursday at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 1 p.m.

Internment will be in Union Cemetery, South Dennis.

Memorial donations may be made to NJ Cuidado Casero Hospice, 45 W. Landis Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360.
