HYRUM, UTAH - Helen Hailstone Brown, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 9,2009. She was born on Easter morning, April 12, 1925 in Hyrum, Utah to Calvin Lufkin and Ruby Luella Andersen Hailstone. Helen married Courtney Bert Brown on September 3, 1942 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on March 11, 1954. Helen spent her childhood in sunny southern California and the beautiful Cache Valley. She attended South Cache High School. Helen was employed part-time in retail sales, but spent the majority of her life caring for her family. She served her church as a teacher in the Primary and Sunday School, and with Court spent many years as members of the Hyrum 3rd Ward Old Folks Committee. Court and Helen were members of the Logan Golf and Country Club. Golf was her passion and she so enjoyed travelling around the state on team play. Survivors include one son and three daughters; Craig (Gayla) Brown, Nancy (Brent) Allen, Debbie (Mike) Hansen, all of Hyrum and Becky (Steve) Anderson of Saint George. She is a grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Max and Stephen Hailstone, and a grandson, Derek Anderson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13 at 12 noon in the Hyrum 5th Ward Chapel, 111 North 400 West with Bishop Craig Rasmussen conducting. Family and friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, in Logan on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and at the church from 10:30 to 11 :30 A.M. on Monday prior to services. Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be extended to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net.
