Died Saturday morning, January 5, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice. He was born January 30, 1928 in Gary, IN. He is the son of Everett and Jamie Hemenway. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 40 years and was a teacher at KVCC in the areas of Political Science and History for 30 years, until he retired in 1998. He was best remembered by his students as the "best teacher I ever had" and for his passion for history and politics. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Ann (Angel) Hemenway, on September 7, 2003. He is survived by three children, Kevin (Mary) Hemenway of Kalamazoo, Jamie (Doug) Ellis of Colorado, and James A. (Debra) Hemenway of Texas Corners; six grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; a twin brother, George (Ludy) Hemenway of Ohio and a nephew. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Their love and kindness is greatly appreciated.
