Third District San Bernardino County Supervisor 1968-1972
Son of Robert and Adolphine(Ziegenhagen)Beckord. He obtained his Bachelor's degree at Peru State Teachers College in Peru, Nebraska and Masters in Political Science from George Peabody University in Nashville,Tennessee.
Don and Gladys York were married in Tampa,Florida in 1941. They had two daughters, Jane Beckord Henry and Mary Beckord McEachen.
His US ARMY reserve unit, called to duty in World War II, he served in information and education branch. Discharged honorably as a Major.
The Beckords moved to Redlands in 1951, he became a citrus grower while becoming active in politics; President of County Board of Education, President of Redlands Union High School District, President of the Mission Elementry School Didstrict. He was awarded life membeership in the Parent- Teachers Association. Member of the Farm Bureau, American Legion, Elks, Rotary, and Redlands Masonic Lodge, and many other orginizations.
He died of a lengthy illness.
