David Cummings, Co G 22nd Indiana Infantry. Mustered Aug 18, 1861. Veteran. Killed at Peach Tree Creek, July 20, 1864. -Indiana AG. I did not find a grave for David Cummings registered in Marietta National Cemetery.
The man in this grave was killed at the battle of Peach Tree Creek. Buried near men of the 52nd Ohio who were killed at Peach Tree Creek, July 19, 1864. The 22nd Indiana was in the same brigade as the 52nd Ohio - 3rd Brigade (Dilworth), 2nd Division (Davis), XIV Corps. I am sure that is why his regiment was confused with the Ohio regiment. Original battlefield burial location was specifically described as 500yds NE of the last mentioned grave[* D-650] on the side of a hill 100yds S of Peach Tree Creek.
