WALNUT RIDGE — Earl "Glenn" Vance of Walnut Ridge passed away Friday, July 17, 2009.

Mr. Vance was born July 7, 1929, at Evening Shade, the son of Gaines and Virgie Williams Vance. He was united in marriage to Ruby Irene Webb on Oct. 9, 1948, at Bono.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Irene Webb Vance of the home; one daughter, Sandra Clayton and Terry Privett of Black Rock; four sons and daughters-in law, Earl and Evelyn Vance of Vilonia, Larry and Mica Vance of Lynn, Jerry and Bobbie Vance of Eaton and Bobby and Martha Vance of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one brother, G.M. Vance of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Tommie Jean Robertson of Black Rock; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaines and Virgie Vance.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in New Hope Cemetery at Smithville with Joel McMaster and Rowdy Morgan officiating under direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Active pallbearers will be Van Clayton, Rhonda McGuire, Shannon Smith, Devin Terry, Lacye Vance, Keri Brower, Christy Richey, Michael Vance, Brent Patrick and Sarah Sanders.

Honorary pallbearers will be Teri Clayton, Dewayne Smith, David Terry, Shane Brower, Shelby Richey and Marty Sanders.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to New Hope Cemetery or to the children's hospital of one's choice.
