Margaret "Maggie" Haynes was born to Hiram Haynes and Mary M. Childress on January 31, 1866. She and her family soon moved to Springfield, MO., where her father engaged in commerce, and eventually ran a dry goods store. Her father, Hiram disappeared on a train, while traveling to Chicago on a buying trip. His body or his whereabouts were never found, and this impacted the family greatly. Maggie had younger siblings, and it is surmised that she sacrificed her future to help her mother secure a future for the younger siblings. Maggie never married. Maggie was 79 years old at the time of her death, and her brother, Earl was the informant on her death certificate.
