Elizabeth McMichael married William Trapnell on 23 Mar 1842 at York, PA and they had 6 children, Mary E., David John, Matthew, Elizabeth Norwood, William H. and Edward. All born before the Civil War. After the war her husband worked for the PA Central Railroad and was killed by a passenger train coming from Philadelphia in 1867. She then married Franklin Haines, a widower, they had no children. She was the daughter of David McMichael & Mary Norris, daughter of Alexander Norris of MD.
Sudden Death of Mrs. F.A. Haines.
Mrs. Haines, wife of Mr. F.A. Haines, died very suddenly at the residence of her husband, No. 421 Beaver Street, at about six o'clock on Friday evening. Although an invalid for three years, or more, she was able to be about until within thirty hours of her death, when she was visited with a stroke. Mrs. Haines was Mrs. Trapnell, widow of William Trapnell, when Mr. Haines married her. She came to Lancaster from Safe Harbor but was a native of York County. Five children by her first husband survive, and all of them but one are married. She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian church, and was, until incapacitated by illness, a teacher in the Sunday-school. Her funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at three o'clock, with interment at Woodward Hill Cemetery.
One of the daughters of the deceased is married to Prof. Balentine, Superintendent of Public Schools in Mahanoy City, and she arrived here this afternoon. -- Lancaster New Era, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 22Jun1889, p. 1.
