Ralph R. "Ray" Allen Jr., 88, of Gladwin, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at home following a long illness. Born Nov. 3, 1912 in Flint, he was the son of Ralph and Verlie (Eckler) Allen Sr. He lived in Gladwin County since 1942 and previously lived in Flint. Ralph married Alice (Hale), Sept. 14, 1934. She preceded him in death in 1993. He worked at the Gladwin Sheriff's Department and owned and operated Allen's Radiator Shop in Gladwin. He was a member of the Gladwin Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are one daughter, Beverly and husband Duane Roberson of Gladwin; two granddaughters, Christy and husband Andy Gary and Michelle and husband Scott Evensen, all of Gladwin; two grandsons, Duane Jr. and wife Joan Roberson, and Ralph Roberson, all of Gladwin; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Miles of Mt. Morris; and two sisters, Maude Gardner of Mt. Morris and Elouise Adams of Fenton. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Gloria Roberson, his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, with Rev. Mary Jo Schuetz officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin.
