Mehitable Wilmarth was the first and only wife of Jeremiah, and the mother of all of his children. There is no recorded death record, and apparently no headstone survives for her, but the fact that she survived him, can be proven by the following petition received and filed in Probate at Taunton.
"To the Honerabell George Leonard, Esq. Judg of Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration, in the County of Bristol. These are to Informe your honer that my Late Husband, Jeremiah Ormsbe of Rehoboth is lately Deceased and left some small moveabelles and deyed Intestate. and I being above seventy years of age and not abell to take the troubell of Administering on my said Husbands estate Pray that Administration may be granted to my sone in Law Benjamin Hicks or to him and the rest of my sons in Law if your Honer thinks it best and you will oblige me.
Dated in Rehoboth September 6th 1748 Mehitable Ormsbee." 3
