LAST RITES FOR COUNTY PIONEER WED. AFTERNOON

Funeral services for J. M. Day, Lincoln County pioneer who passed away at his home Monday, December 30, were held at the Church of Christ, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. L. M. Scott of Shawnee, officiating.

John Montier Day was born in Putnam County, Indiana, April 28, 1857 and departed this life December 30, 1935 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 2 days.

He moved with his parents to Atwood, Illinois (1876), and from there to Johnson County, Missouri, where he lived for two years (1881-1883). In 1884 the family again moved, this time to Riley County, Kansas.

In 1886 he was united in marriage to Miss Florence Coltharp on March 4 and soon after the opening of the Strip the young couple moved to Lincoln County where they still have their home. To this union there were nine children born, two sons and seven daughters.

Mr. and Mrs. Day celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a reception in the home of their daughter, Mrs. E C Alford, March 4th.
He leaves to mourn his passing the wife and five children, Roy O., Tulsa, Mrs. JD Key, Guymon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Claude Falkenstein, Mrs. E C Alford, Mrs. T.V. Schribner, all of Chandler, also three brothers, Mason (Nathan) Day, Washington County, Kansas, Thomas Day, Portland, Oregon, and William Day, Atwood, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Amanda Wrightfell (Rightsell), Brazil, Indiana, preceded him in death, Dec 5.
O.R. Savage, funeral director, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
