Funeral services for James Howard, retired machinist, who died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, May 30, after a lingering illness, were held at Ruger Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Paul C. Wilson officiated and interment was in Momence cemetery.
Mr. Howard was born Dec. 1, 1875 in Scranton, Pa., the son of James and Barbara Barr Howard. He was married in Chicago Heights on Feb. 3, 1902. A resident of the state of 29 years, he was formerly employed by the C.E. Wallace Co. of Chicago Heights.
Since the death of his wife, Dora, Nov. 13, 1947, he made his home with his daughter, Mrs Lyeth Tabler, at 111 N. Maple St. Mr. Howard was a member of Momence AF&AM Lodge 481 and the Eastern Star.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lyeth Tabler; sons, Walter of Momence and Maurice of Chicago Heights; five grandchildren.
One son, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
