Daniel S. Barrow was born July 10, 1799, in Wayne County, Kentucky, to Daniel Barrow and Hannah Stone Barrow. He married Mary Gilstrap (ca. 1805-1870) on January 2,1823, in Wayne County, Kentucky. Coincidentally, Daniel's wife, Mary Gilstrap was the sister of Welthy Gilstrap, who married Daniel's brother, Nathan Barrow. Daniel and Mary had nine children:

3. Bright Granville Barrow, born October 10, 1826, in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky; married Margaret Ferguson on May 1, 1851, in Adair County, Missouri; they were divorced in 1860; married again on June 21, 1863, to Mary Jane Downing; Bright died November 6, 1880, in Macon County, Missouri.

4. George West Barrow, born September 7, 1831, in Wayne County, Kentucky; married Mary A. Chaffin August 13, 1856, in Macon County, Missouri; died September 16, 1885, in Shelbina, Shelby County, Missouri.

5. Robert Wilson Barrow, born November 11, 1838, in Macon County, Missouri; married Sarah J. Walker on February 14, 1864, in Macon County, Missouri; died May 11, 1864 in Atwell's mine, near Bevier, Macon County, Missouri; buried at Antioch Cemetery, in Macon County, Missouri.
