BETTY WHALEY COLLINS
76, of Independence, KY and longtime resident of Maysville passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Hospice of the Bluegrass in Ft. Thomas, KY. She was a 31 years assistant of Dr. Frank Brisley and a 15 year assistant for Dr. Tim Leonard. She was the widow of Henry S. "Red" Collins whose death occurred on May 17, 2001. She was an active member of St. Patrick Church where she served on the Parish Council and the Altar Society. She was a past president of the St. Patrick School Board and SPAC. She was a member of the church choir and Connie's Class Class Room Mother for all 12 years of school. She was a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include a daughter Connie (Patrick) Pohlgeers of Independence and 2 grandchildren, Cody Henry Pohlgeers, age 10 ,and Anastasia Fury Pohlgeers, age 6. I sister Phoebe (Jack) Collins of May's Lick and 2 brothers Louis (Lil) Whaley of Danville and J.T. (Bernadine) Whaley of Maysville. Numerous nieces & nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Virginia Belt and Marie Dickson. Mass of Christian Burial will be intoned at 11 A.M. Saturday July 18, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maysville with Rev. Joseph Gallenstein officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation 5-8 P.M. Friday, July 17, at Palmer Funeral Home with Rosary recited at 7:45 P.M. Memorials suggested to St. Patrick School or the National Kidney Foundation
